Question
What Humidity Level Can These Sensors Operate At?
Answer
575 is a submersible unit. However, the cable must be terminated in as dry an area as possible. The RH can be as high as 100% if non-condensing.
Question
Can Moisture/Humidity Near the Vents Damage These Sensors Over Time?
Answer
Yes, excessive moisture/humidity combined with large temperature gradients can cause moisture to be drawn into the open end of the cable. In installations where the cable is terminated in an electrical box inside a heated or air-conditioned building there is normally no problem.
Question
Is Desiccant Required Where the Cable Terminates and Vents?
Answer
Where conditions are extreme some method of protecting the cable termination is required. Desiccant can be used but this requires periodic maintenance. Another method used to protect the cable vent is to seal the enclosure where the cable terminates. A bellows or pressure equalizing membrane must be used to equalize the pressure in the enclosure to atmospheric pressure. A company that makes desiccant breathers and immersion breathers is DryTech in Cookstown, NJ. 800-221-0208.
Question
Do these Sensors Require Periodic Maintenance?
Answer
No periodic maintenance is required for the 575, other than cleaning the holes in the snub-nose if the unit is used where sludge is present.
